Rachel Thompson’s work derives its cohesiveness from an underlying sensitivity for the ethereal and an earnest curiosity for the divine. Working often from a highly personal stance she draws upon her own visionary artistic journey and then fuses it with the wisdom and mystical symbolism of ancient cultures. The result is imagery that not only reflects her own journey, but also something far more universal. Universal in the sense that it continually reaches out for a higher spiritual connection. It is my belief as a fellow artist that this is the highest ambition an artist can undertake….to take something that we can only feel and attempt to translate into a vision.
In 2015 Rachel Thompson was named Flagler County Artist of the Year by the Gargiulo Art Foundation. She was given this award for her work as an artist and the many contributions she has made to further art within the community. Now as a resident of Volusia County Rachel shows her work at her home/studio in Ormond-by-the-Sea and at Arts on Granada in Ormond Beach. She will be participating in the Off the Beaten Path Home Studio Tour February 9th & 10th, 2019 (FloridaArtsTour.com). Rachel is a member of the Florida Women Artists’ Association and shows with the association in various venues including October at the Peabody in Daytona and February at the Casements in Ormond Beach.
